ChatGPT Ads Case Study: 22 Leads at $52 Each in the First 6 Weeks — on a Channel Most Businesses Haven’t Touched
ChatGPT Ads are one of the newest paid channels in digital marketing — and one of the least understood. Most agencies haven’t run a single campaign on the platform yet. We just wrapped the first six weeks of a live ChatGPT Ads engagement for one of our clients, and the early numbers are strong enough that we wanted to share them. The client’s identity is kept confidential, but every figure below is real.
The Client
Our client is a U.S.-based practice offering a premium wellness service delivered one-on-one over Zoom. Their programs are high-value: a single new client who books a full program is worth many times the monthly ad budget. Before this campaign they had never advertised inside an AI assistant — like most businesses, their paid acquisition had been limited to traditional channels.
The Setup
We designed and launched the campaign end to end as a 90-day pilot, starting July 3, 2026. Three elements did the heavy lifting:
Prompt-targeted creative. ChatGPT Ads appear in the context of what people are actually asking. We built the campaign around the questions the client’s future customers were already bringing to ChatGPT, so the ad shows up precisely when someone is looking for help.
Screening questions built into the funnel. Clicks are cheap; wasted consultations are not. Every lead answers qualifying questions — confirming they’re ready to start now and comfortable with online Zoom sessions — before they can book. Only “Zoom-ready” prospects reach the calendar.
A free eBook as a secondary path. Visitors who weren’t ready to book could download a free guide instead, entering an email follow-up sequence. Nobody who clicks is wasted.
The Results: First 6 Weeks (July 3 – August 17)
| Ad impressions | 32,897 |
| Clicks | 397 |
| Cost per click | $2.87 |
| Total spend | $1,139 |
| Ready-to-book leads (passed screening) | 10 |
| Free eBook downloads | 12 |
| Cost per ready-to-book lead | $114 |
| Blended cost per lead (all 22 leads) | $52 |
What These Numbers Mean
For a brand-new advertising channel, these are strong results. Nearly 33,000 people nationwide saw the ad in six weeks, and the cost per click held steady at a healthy $2.87 — no sign of the volatility you might expect from an immature ad platform.
More importantly, the quality held up. The screening questions did their job: the 10 leads who reached the booking calendar were genuinely high-intent, ready-to-start prospects. At roughly $114 per ready-to-book lead for a premium service, the math is simple — a single client who books a full program more than covers the entire six weeks of ad spend, and everything beyond that is profit. Add the 12 eBook downloads now sitting in an email nurture sequence, and the blended cost per lead drops to $52.
Early Lessons from Running ChatGPT Ads
A few things stood out from the first six weeks. First, intent inside ChatGPT is remarkably high — people aren’t browsing, they’re asking for help with a specific problem, which makes prompt-relevance the single most important creative decision. Second, qualification matters even more than on traditional channels; a screening step keeps low-intent clicks from clogging the calendar. Third, pairing a booking path with a lighter-commitment offer (the eBook) captures the demand that isn’t ready yet instead of losing it.
The Bottom Line
Six weeks in, the ads are reaching people nationwide, delivering high-intent leads at a cost that makes clear financial sense, and appointments are coming in. The 90-day pilot runs through early October, and we’re continuing to fine-tune targeting and creative — but the foundation is already working.
ChatGPT is where hundreds of millions of people are already asking, deciding, and buying. Very few businesses are advertising there yet — which is exactly the opportunity.
